In this project, we had to make a hybrid car that has another source of energy. It was probably one of the harder projects I have done so far in my first semester of STEM. My group consisted of Julia Corbani, Madi Jones, and Ciara Samuel.

Our project is a rubber band powered car. When we wind up the car, potential energy is stored in it's "engine". When we release it, the car takes off, going a certain distance depending how much the car was winded up. It is also slowed down because of air resistance and friction.
In this unit, we went over concepts like velocity, time, and acceleration. These elements are shown when the car is moving. In our power point presentation, we have graphs to show the connection between these elements. Time shows how long it takes the car to get to the destination it needs to reach. Acceleration is the increase or decrease in speed between each distance. Velocity is how fast the car is moving.
Reflection
This project gave me nightmares. The project was scraped so many times, I thought we would never finish it. But with a little help from a fellow classmate, we managed to make our car right on time. Something I thought our group could have done better on would have been staying on task and working harder on the calculations. Our graphs weren't the best, especially compared to the other classes graphs. And like I said before, the due date felt like a death sentence for a period of time. But eventually, we finished. Something I learned about myself is that I should step up more and do more for my group. I should present more ideas and work harder at improving the idea that we have.
